And great things will start happening around you
So I’ve been reading Unshakeable by Tony Robbins. This guy blows my mind every time! The funniest thing is that it’s not because of what he says. It’s that what he says is what I’ve always known… it’s like he is putting in words my deepest thoughts. I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced something like this. It’s rather uncanny, but also exhilarating! The best part of all of it is that I realize that I’ve never been as ready as I am now to listen and believe everything he says -aka, what my inner voice has been telling me for years. Of course, I’m not referring to his vast knowledge about investing in the stock market, which I know (and have never known) nothing about, so I’m learning a lot. What I’m referring to is basically what he says about real wealth. You can own a lot of money and accumulate a lot of material possessions but be very poor inside, and hence unhappy. On the other hand, you can have limited possessions and a modest salary and be a lot more fulfilled and happy than most people. So, what is the secret to real happiness? From Robbins’ point of view, and mine, it’s about really finding what you want and pursuing it relentlessly. Even if you never get it, you’ll be happier than the richest man on earth that has no idea what he really wants.
I also love all the anecdotes he recalls as he presents his ideas, especially in his podcast about it (Episode 5: Making the most important decision of your life). He knows amazing people and even if they’re not amazing, the way he tells the anecdote makes them sound so interesting. There are some people that can just transform reality with their words and their passion, Tony Robbins is one of them.
Anyway, to go back to the real way to find happiness and be wealthy in every sense of the word, the first thing you need to do is find what you really want. As easy as it sounds, it’s one of the most difficult things to figure out. I have to say that personally I’ve always known I love writing and when I was younger, in school actually, I used to write poetry and even songs. But for whatever reasons, the path I chose to follow took me very far from that young girl writing poetry and believing she could create a better world with words…
until now.
Once you find what you want, what you really (really) want you’ll see amazing things happening around you. Because knowing what you want will give you the focus and tunnel vision that you need to get it. This obsession translates into you noticing little things that you wouldn’t have noticed before but also making decisions that will create situations to get you closer to your goal. It’s not magic, it’s just that your mind and soul will have a clarity that you never had before. It’s exhilarating! You’ll also notice that looking backward the little signs and hints were always there but you were blind to them because you were busy with ‘other’ stuff.
