I’m making my dreams come true, right now.
Today I started my morning listening to Queen’s super pumped tune “Don’t stop me now!” It’s one of my favorites because it makes me feel happy and ready to tackle anything on my day. Of course, my kids, who just started school, were less enthusiastic than me, but I bet it did give them a little joy also.
The truth is I’ve been thinking about this song lately because I am making a big change in my life right now. I am deciding to dive into my writing career and becoming a life coach along the way. This allows me to combine two of my passions: write and help others!
I often think that procrastination is what gets in the way of my projects. But during a recent conversation I discovered that this is not the main cause why I don’t get things done. I often start with laser focus and along the way I start to lose motivation because my little internal voice finds many different reasons/excuses/valid objections why I shouldn’t be doing them. For example, whenever I think about promoting my book on Amazon and researching about marketing campaigns, the little voice in my head tells me “it’s too much money, don’t do it”, “if you pay all this money and nothing comes out of it you will feel so stupid. Besides, you don’t have this amount of money anyway…”, etc. Or as soon as I finish the draft to my book, the little voice comes and utters “maybe you should rethink all this chapter, it seems dull and uninteresting”, “it is not that well written”, etc.
So, this time around, I am crushing the little voice inside my head, aka ‘old me’, and going for the big prize. If it costs money, I will come up with it and it will pay off! If I have to put myself out there and take risks, I will show up and do it! If I have to rewrite my draft over and over, I will put the hours and effort to do it! My focus will take me where I need to go to get the results I want! Selling my book on Amazon, writing my memoir/self help novel, getting the necessary training and practice to coach people to become the best version of themselves and reach their own goals, that’s what new me is doing right now!
In short: Don’t stop me now! resumes the feeling of soaring above all my fears and blockages to do what I love and what I believe to be my real calling. Stay tuned for more updates on the path to my dreams. How many times do you find yourself dropping projects or dreams because of the fear of not being good enough… or just enough? How many people just don’t even dare to dream of becoming writers because the little voice in their head eats away their courage with insidious little ‘reasons and excuses’?
The title of my memoir, by the way, is “Dare to be me”. This is it! You can’t stop me now!
