Nanowrimo is coming back!

I have been trying to find a group of writers to work with like-minded people and try to socialize while writing. You might wonder why do I have this need really because writing is basically a solitary activity by definition: you sit down by yourself, pull together your ideas, start writing and rewriting until it looks like the best version of the idea that originally popped up in your head. Right?

But, in fact, I’m a believer that when you discuss your ideas or read them out loud something amazing happens in your brain. It’s happened to me many times when I start telling a friend about an idea for my book and, as soon as I try to explain it, it sounds terribly bad or as I talk I come up with many more details that I didn’t imagine before. So either as a way to confirm that what you are thinking about is good or worth it or to realize that it is really a bad idea, bouncing your ideas or writing with others is a great way to get out of the bubble and see better.

Of course, the added perk to this is when your friend also gives you authentic feedback and it helps you define better what you want to write or how you want to present it, etc. In general, I’m guilty of keeping a lot of what makes up my idea in my head because of my tendency to be succinct. My reader can very quickly let me know when I need to develop more a part of my text and thus direct me to write clearer and better.

So Nanowrimo this year will be for me that space where I will try to find a buddy or group to work together. What a better opportunity than to get in contact with like-minded writers, all determined to have a draft by the end or to work consistently in their project. I can’t wait!

Happy Nanowrimo to us all!
