Keiko wanted to explain to her best friend what was happening, but she didn’t understand herself. Lei couldn’t believe it, how could she be leaving with her father without an explanation? A man that never visited her, that was like a ghost.
Keiko knew something was wrong. She knew her father well, even though they were not close. He would never ask anything from her if he didn’t think it was important. He seemed worried, disturbed when he called. He wanted her to go with him to Tsing-Ha, the heart of the Realm.
She wanted to have a normal life since her parents had fled that terrible war-ridden place and settled on the other side of the world, she knew they were never going back… until now.
This changed everything. Her father said they had to go back because the whole world was in danger and it was their destiny to try and save it. But she didn’t know what that meant. How could it be the destiny of a young woman and an old professor of chemistry to try to save the world? and save it from what? The Coalition was already bad enough… what could possibly be worse?
