Creating amigurumis

I recently discovered these little creatures made with crochet and then put together by sewing the parts to the body. There are all sorts of amigurumis and you can have fun creating your own version. I’ve seen teddy bears, dragons, dolls, etc. The colors can also be any that you love or want to combine. Here I’m posting my first attempt at making a little teddy bear in orange/coral that is one of my favorite colors.

Above you can see the first step: the body is one piece and then you start making the ears, nose, arms and legs. This particular amigurumi had also a tail but I didn’t like it so mine doesn’t have one. As you can probably see the body is tight in this picture and not so much in the other one. The reason is that my puppy loved the stuffed body and had some fun chewing on it for a while, so it became a little larger. After the incident I am considering making these little creatures as pet toys… maybe I’m on to something!

I any case, I think a project like this one is a great way to unleash your creativity not only because of the manual craft but also because you can have fun putting together the version of creature you want. Maybe it can become a character’s pet or imaginary creature in your next novel. Have fun creating your own amigurumi! At least I do.
