To challenge: 7 days later

Ok, I’m one day late. The important thing is that I have written fiction everyday this week and the result is… Number 4! I loved it! I’m not sure everything I wrote could become stories or parts of stories but they came out easier than I expected. With my busy week schedule, some days I was writing at 10 pm or later, so those days weren’t the best pieces I’ve created, to put it nicely. There are two main points that I noticed as I was doing this challenge:

  1. When I sat down to write it took just a couple of minutes to come up with some starting point. I wasn’t frozen before the ‘white page’ as I anticipated I would be, so that gave me a great feeling of ‘I can do this!’
  2. Even if your brain seems dead, you can come up with some short blurb about your day or something that happened to you and write it down.

One of the stories I wrote and I loved was writing as if I were my dog and I’m excited to make it longer. Here is a short preview:

“How is it that I feel so hot? I’ve never felt this before. Don’t get me wrong: I like it! but I just don’t understand how it is happening. And also, where is the white stuff that was covering everything? How come I can’t find it anymore? The colors have changed: it looks brown and green… so many mysteries! I also hear new noises, or songs, all the time now. Not the human noises, those were there before when the white thing was covering all. Different noises… They seem to come out of little animals that run but can go up in the air. I’ve tried to catch one but they are really fast. I will keep trying, they seem fun! ”

The conclusion after these first 7 days is that I will continue another 7 days. In my case, I think that keeping the goal small and reachable has a better result than going for the BIG 30 days or months, you know? Know your limitations and you’ll accomplish great things. I just made that up, but it rings true to me! Challenge: 1. No challenge: 0. But whose keeping score, right?
